Our Custom Seed Packets

Well, it’s that time of year that everyone starts collecting seeds for the upcoming growing season. As such, I thought I’d make a quick post to show our custom seed packets.

A while back we took a little survey to see if people preferred their seeds in a traditional sized seed packet or simply packaged in a small resealable ziplock. Since we sell a lot of pepper seeds we got mixed feedback. You see, the pepper growing community is used to getting their seeds in the little airtight ziplocks when trading varieties or even from some specialty pepper seed sellers.

In contrast the average gardener prefers the traditional sized seed packs with seed info on the back. The seed packets are easy to read, the consistent size makes them convenient to sort through, and the variety info is right there. We can certainly understand both sides of this, so we decided to use a combination of these methods to satisfy both types of gardener with our custom seed packets.

In the photo above you can see what we came up with for our packets. For the main seed packet we decided on Kraft paper envelopes. On the front of the seed packets we print a photo of the variety, the name clearly printed out on top, and the amount of seeds included. On the back of the seed packet is a brief description of the product along with basic planting instructions.

Inside the packet you’ll find a small resealable ziplock containing the seeds. On the ziplock we place a small sticker with the variety name and a QR code that can be scanned with the camera on your mobile device directing you to the product page on our website which contains full description of the product. This will also make it easy for you to find the same variety when it’s time to restock next growing season.

We feel that this combination serves well to all types of seed collectors. The small ziplock is airtight and resists moisture and the paper seed packet will protect the seeds from light while providing the info many desire. As you may know, seeds will remain viable for many years of you store them in a cool, dry, dark place. Our seed packaging will help ensure a long viability time of your seeds.

Well we hope you like our new custom seed packets. Thanks for reading, and while you’re here, head on over to our seed shop and take a look. You can see a list of our current coupons and specials here. Until next time… Happy Gardening!
