The variety of Bird’s Eye pepper seeds we stock are the African variety. There are several peppers that are, sometimes incorrectly, referred to as Bird’s Eye, even the common Thai Dragon pepper. True Bird’s Eye Chili peppers are small like this African variety. Other names for these tiny peppers are Peri Peri, Piri Piri, and Malawi Bird’s Eye Chili. Although small they are quite a bit hotter than a Jalapeno but not intolerable. You’ll probably be surprised by the punch these little peppers pack. The plants grow in a bush form usually less than 24″ tall but will be loaded with the tiny fruits which average 1/2″ to one inch. The flavor profile is a bit smoky and fruity. The blunt fruit grows pointing up and matures from green to red but can be used at any stage. Due to the compact size of the plant, they make and excellent choice for containers or patio gardening You won’t be disappointed with these Bird’s Eye pepper seeds but consider growing Aji Charapita peppers as well.
