The Gold Nugget tomato was developed in the 1980’s by Oregon State University, specifically bred for cooler climates, and is the winner of the Award of Garden Merit by England’s Royal Horticultural Society’s (RHS). Although tolerant of cool weather they are also said to be abundant when grown in warmer conditions as well. Starting Gold Nugget Tomato Seeds Indoors

You should start these seeds indoors at least 6-8 weeks before the last frost for an abundant harvest. Sow seeds in damp, not soggy, potting soil at a depth of about 1/4″ or so. The ideal temperature of the potting soil is about 70-75F for good germination which usually occurs in 7-14 days. Use of a humidity dome will ensure the potting soil doesn’t dry out before the seedlings can sprout. Use of a grow light is recommended once the seedlings break the soil.
