72 days to maturity. Indeterminate. Non-GMO. Heirloom. If you’re looking for a delicious tomato variety that will add a nice pop of color to your garden then pick up these Yellow Beefsteak tomato seeds. The fruit you’ll produce from these seeds are a bright yellow variation with a unique flavor and taste, not as strong of a flavor as a red beefsteak. These tomatoes are mildly acidic with a taste similar to the Pineapple beefsteak. Like most beefsteak varieties the yellow is an indeterminate that grows and produces fruit through the entire season. Plants can easily reach 8′ tall. Yellow Beefsteak tomatoes can weigh up to 2 pounds at harvest so be sure to provide support through use of stakes or a sturdy cage.

How To Start Yellow Beefsteak Tomato Seeds

Tomato seeds typically germinate in 7-21 days and should be started indoors at least 6 weeks before the last frost. By providing the proper moisture level and temperature you can expedite the germination process. Use only high-quality seed starting soil. Moisten soil before filling your seed starting cells or containers. You should only be able to squeeze a drop or two of water from the mix. Do not over wet. Push one or two seeds into the soil of each cell about 1/4″ deep and cover seeds with soil. The sown seeds should be covered with a humidity dome or plastic cover to ensure they don’t dry out before germination. Once the seeds sprout through the soil surface make sure they receive light from a sufficient source such as fluorescent shop lights or LED grow lights. Fluorescent lights work well but need to be kept within a few inches of the tops of seedling, heat is not an issue with shop lights. Do not attempt to use a windowsill to grow seedlings. Sunlight coming in a window is rarely adequate, even from a south facing window, and will result in leggy seedlings that lean as they stretch for the light. Be sure and harden off seedlings before putting them in the full sun of your garden.
