African Yellow Pequin Seeds

African Yellow Pequin Seeds are an excellent choice for gardeners and hot pepper enthusiasts looking to add a fiery yet fruity flavor to their dishes. These unique seeds produce a pepper variety native to Africa, boasting both heat and a delightful citrusy aroma that will make your culinary creations stand out.

SHU

When it comes to taste, the African Yellow Pequin is truly in a league of its own. These peppers boast a complex flavor profile that expertly balances fruity, citrus notes with a hint of smokiness. On the Scoville Heat Unit (SHU) scale, African Yellow Pequin peppers can get up to about 100,000 SHU. This level of heat is higher then that of the cayenne pepper, making these peppers a great option for those who appreciate a moderate to high level of spiciness in their dishes.

Mature Height

African Yellow Pequin pepper plants typically reach a mature height of 3 to 4 feet (0.9 to 1.2 meters) when grown under optimal conditions. Boasting lush green, somewhat fuzzy foliage, these plants are not only a great source of flavorful peppers, but they also add a touch of visual appeal to your outdoor space.

Day to Maturity

From the time of germination, African Yellow Pequin seeds typically take between 90 to 100 days to reach full maturity. Gardeners should expect to see the first fruit set appear approximately 70 to 80 days after transplanting the seedlings to their final growing location.

Fruit Size

The fruit size of the African Yellow Pequin pepper is relatively small, with each pepper measuring between 0.5 to 1 inch (1.3 to 2.5 centimeters) in length. Despite their diminutive size, these tiny peppers pack a powerful punch in terms of flavor and heat.

Fruit Color

When fully ripe, African Yellow Pequin peppers transition from green to orangish-yellow as they mature, with the flavor and heat intensifying during this ripening process. Harvesting the peppers at their peak of ripeness ensures the best taste and heat level for your culinary creations.

Summary

In summary, African Yellow Pequin Seeds are perfect for gardeners and hot pepper lovers seeking a moderately spicy pepper with a unique, fruity flavor profile. With their manageable heat level, these peppers are versatile and can be used in a wide range of dishes, from hot sauces and salsas to stir-fries and stews. The compact plant size and adaptability to container gardening make them an ideal choice for those with limited space or who wish to grow their peppers in pots. With proper care and attention, African Yellow Pequin pepper plants will reward you with a generous harvest of delicious, fiery peppers that are sure to elevate your cooking to new heights.

Plants were pretty unique looking, very upright with lots of branching and fuzzy leaves. They were loaded with peppers and it takes a bit of time to pick them all. The taste kinda reminds me of Thai peppers, hot without a lot of flavor.
